By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the meaning of “Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah”, the obligations it brings, and why following the Messenger is inseparable from Tawheed.

Opening Reminder

Affirming Muhammad ﷺ as the Messenger is not merely an acknowledgment of history. It is a declaration of guidance, obedience, and allegiance.

Section 1: The Necessity of the Messenger

Allah sent messengers to convey His guidance and warn against falsehood. Believing in Allah alone is incomplete without following His Messenger.

“Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets.”
Qur’an 33:40

This verse emphasizes the unique and final role of Muhammad ﷺ in guiding humanity.

Section 2: What Affirming the Messenger Means

Affirmation includes:

• Belief in all that he conveyed from Allah
• Acceptance of his laws and commands
• Following his Sunnah sincerely
• Not innovating in opposition to his teachings

Section 3: Why Following the Messenger Is Part of Tawheed

Worshiping Allah alone requires obeying His Messenger. Without obedience, belief in Tawheed is incomplete.

“Whoever obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah; but if he turns away, We have not sent you as a guardian over them.”
Qur’an 4:80

Section 4: Common Misunderstandings Clarified

Misunderstanding:
“I believe in Allah, so following Muhammad ﷺ is optional.”

Correction:
Belief in Allah is inseparable from obedience to His Messenger. The Prophet ﷺ is the conveyer of Allah’s guidance and law.

“Whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger, they are with those upon whom Allah has bestowed favor…”

Following the Messenger ﷺ requires:

• Learning the Sunnah from authentic sources
• Implementing it in daily life sincerely
• Avoiding innovations and cultural additions
