Belief in the Angels: Their Roles and Reality

Belief in the Angels is one of the pillars of Aqeedah. The Angels (Mala’ikah) are created by Allah from light, performing roles assigned to them without fail. Understanding their existence and responsibilities is essential for correct belief.
1. Nature and Creation of Angels
- Created from light, invisible to human eyes under normal circumstances
- Free from sin and incapable of disobedience to Allah
- Obey Allah’s commands exactly as decreed

2. Roles and Functions
The Qur’an and Sunnah describe many duties of the Angels:
- Recording deeds of humans (Kiraman Katibin)
- Delivering revelation to the Prophets (e.g., Angel Jibreel)
- Guarding and protecting believers
- Executing Allah’s commands across creation, including life, death, and sustenance
Example: Jibreel (Gabriel) conveyed the Qur’an to the Prophet ﷺ, while Malik oversees the punishment of the Hellfire.
