Lesson Objective
By the end of this lesson, the learner will understand what a noun is in Arabic, recognize masculine and feminine nouns, identify basic singular and plural forms, and correctly read the definite article اَلْ.
1. What Is a Noun in Arabic؟
In Arabic, a noun is called اِسْمٌ. A noun names a person, place, thing, or idea.

2. Masculine and Feminine
Masculine Nouns (مُذَكَّر)
رَجُلٌ
وَلَدٌ
كِتَابٌ
Feminine Nouns (مُؤَنَّث)
اِمْرَأَةٌ
بِنْتٌ
مَدْرَسَةٌ
Most feminine nouns end with ة.
3. Singular and Plural (Basics)

4. The Definite Article (ال)
كِتَابٌ → اَلْكِتَابُ

اَلْوَلَدُ فِي اَلْبَيْتِ
اَلْمَدْرَسَةُ كَبِيرَةٌ
